Larwood first employed 'leg theory' bowling during England's victorious 1929/30 tour of Australia, as had several Australian bowlers before him (such as Jack Scott). Larwood employed it again in England in 1930, when the Australia won the series 2-1. But after he proved near unplayable in Australia in 1932/33, he was subsequently dropped from the England team to appease Australia.
