"Bee Kind" Kindness Beehive Tessellation for Kids!
To do this project, students write about nice things they have done for others and nice things others have done for them. Using their writing and artwork of bees, they create a “Beehive of kindness.” Using hexagons that tessellate, your students will create a collaboration poster that connects the individual with the group. The final poster has a ton of “wow factor" when complete, and I hope it will greatly impact your students.
Axolotl Art Projects for Kids
One of my students inspired me to create this axolotl art project for kids. I first learned of an axolotl two years ago from a student who wore axolotl t-shirts to my art camp each day. I won’t pretend that I knew what an axolotl was at the time or even that it was a real creature—I thought it was made up. I started to look into it and realized that this little creature is indeed a real thing–and that kids are gaga about them! It took me two years to get around to doing an axolotl art project for kids, but finally, this year, I was able to make it happen with my 6th and 7th grade students. When I told them we’d be doing an axolotl art project, my 7th graders cheered!
Creative Way to Celebrate Women's History Month
Kids color the pages. All you need to do is print the poster and provide your students with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Students cut out each piece, then put the poster together. Some teachers like giving kids the challenge of putting the poster together themselves – children LOVE this challenge! I have included name labels in this resource if you’d like to use them with your final poster. Then I use them with students to talk about and identify the women on this poster.
Georgia O'Keeffe Flowers for Spring
When you do this project, your students will use their entire bodies to draw LARGE! This project will use their gross motor skills and let them move around in class (structured). You might even see some of them push their chairs aside and stand so they can get into their artwork.
