Éric Alfred Leslie Satie (1866–1925), was a French composer and pianist. He was a colourful figure in the early 20th century Parisian avant-garde. His work was a precursor to later artistic movements such as minimalism, repetitive music, and the Theatre of the Absurd. An eccentric, he was introduced as a "gymnopedist" in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous compositions, the Gymnopédies.

This is Erik Satie. His music is rather experimental, and I don't know what to make of a lot of it. But I do like "Gymnopedies", "Gnossienes", and "Sarabandes", and I'm trying at the moment (in vain!) to play "Embryons Desechees" no. 1 (I know, quite an odd name).

Johannes Brahms (* 7. Mai 1833 in Hamburg; † 3. Jahrhunderts.
