1K reactions · 16 shares | IKEA BESTA BUILT IN’S ALCOVE HACK ✨ Using just two @ikeauk BESTA tv units as the base we created the illusion of built in’s across the whole length of our living room wall. We completed it with alcove shelving and a makeshift fire place (which we are yet to complete) 🙃 To start, we fitted two BESTA tv units either side of the wall and measured out where the fireplace would be so it was symmetrical either side. We positioned the units to sit onto a wooden frame using timber cut to size. Using MDF sheets we cut to size shelves to fit inside the alcove unit and joined them to the wall to give the illusion that they looked boxed and built in. The fireplace was constructed using a timber frame and mdf sheets (unfortunately I didn’t take much footage of this) but hopefully you can get the drift! Once everything was fitted and drilled in position there was a lot of sanding, priming and painting to get it to its finished state, but for the end result it was worth it! This project cost roughly around £500, i’m sure you’ll agree a whole lot cheaper than if you were to purchase a made to measure media wall! We purchased all the units, alongside the MDF wood ourselves. The paint was kindly provided as part of a previous collaboration.
