Pacific 34021 has just arrived at Southampton with an express from London. During the last few months of steam drivers were notching up some fast timings on this line. On this trip (the 6.22pm from Waterloo) Charlie Thorne and his mate had cut 20 minutes off the 100 minute schedule, and had averaged 80mph-plus for long stretches of the trip. Southampton, England.
