THE ALAMO'S MUSICAL DUEL, 28 Feb 1836 - Crockett (Huguenot/Ulster-Scot), in an attempt to raise morale, decided to challenge John McGregor, a Scotsman, to a musical duel of instruments. McGregor took up his bagpipes while Crockett took up his fiddle. They played back & forth, loudly enough for the Mexican soldiers to hear, creating one of the most legendary moments in Texas history. McGregor was said to have won the duel for playing the loudest. (according to Susannah Dickinson, eyewitness)
