Lot detail - A Swiss/South German late Gothic two-handed battle sword, circa 1500 - 1520
Double-edged, long blade, approximately one half with flat fullers on both sides, one side decorated with brass inlays, the other side with (rubbed) Passau wolf mark. Chiselled, blackened iron hilt, the quillons with widened conical finials. On each side two oval guard rings, each pair with a further guard ring on the outside, decorated with chiselled stylised monster head at the junction. Original, leather-covered wooden grip with tapered iron pommel. Grip and leather cover with minor flaws....
