Warning: Long Post! Today was the last day of school. This year was so challenging. It almost broke me. Thankfully, I made it through, and my eyes are set on summer. I've made no plans, no specific vacations, no summer work. Just living. It was tough to see a few kids cry today when they were leaving. I know that I was more to them than a teacher. A friend, confidant, and role model. Even though a small group drove me to insanity, I'm so thankful for the rest of my class. They were so…

Then, I discovered a ton of inspiring teachers' blogs and thought, "I can do that, too!" And, The Third Grade Learning Spot came to be. Through a lot of trial and error I created my own blog, but the finished product wasn't what I had envisioned in my head. No matter how many tutorials I watched I just couldn't get…

Animal Habitats: The Desert {A Flap Book Project for Grades 1-2}

I wrote this student science text with the "You Read to Me, I'll Read to You" books in mind. (Mary Ann Hoberman) I love those types of two-reader books because they allow readers of different abilities to read together. If read individually, this science text is most appropriate for a second-semeste...

Hopefully the kids have been, too (oh, and learning some things as well, haha!)! We started the week off by learning about the five oceans--I feel old since I was only taught about four main oceans, you know, way back when there were nine planets...Anyways, I found this song on Proteacher last year and fancied it up a bit for our song book...I do not know the…
