Free Motion Quilting - Ribbon Candy Hearts Variation
This border design is a variation on the classic Ribbon Candy pattern. The design is constructed as a series of hearts. The hearts also contain hearts, doubling up on the love! The free motion design is stitched out on a long rectangle, like in a border or sashing. This border pattern works well on table runners, bags and pillows or any quilt that has washings or is constructed out of strips of fabric. The design is easily combined with the classic Ribbon Candy design or a meandering design with hearts. The blogpost contains an explanation on the shapes and a link to a YouTube video. The sample was quilted on a domestic sewing machine (Janome 8900) but the design can be used with any machine, like a sit-down machine or a longarm.

Esther Frenzel 🧵Quilt Teacher on Instagram: "You have to try this one! This design Finnish Flower is a lot of fun to stitch out. I stitch the flowers and leaves relatively close together, sometimes even touching the edges of a previous design element. Each flower is big, so your quilt will stay flowy and soft. Video description: On top of a photo of an ochre colored quilted sample a white line appear from the bottom left. The white line follows the stitched lines and created flowers with three petals. in-between the flowers, a few leaves are added. #FreeMotionQuilting #FMQ #ipatchandquiltFMQ #ipatchandquilt #QuiltingTutorial #EdgeToEdgeQuilting"
