1920s Dance Hall, China. The dancer on the left in the foreground seems to be wearing a cheongsam (known in Mandarin as a qípáo) - which would have been quite a new style of garment in this era, as it developed in the 1920s in Shanghai.

This was Dance Hall in Shanghai painted by an artist of that time. The women's dress - the Shanghai-style gown - was inspired by the lady's fashion from the Europe.
