Muiria hortenseae. Muiria are endemic to the Western Cape Province, South Africa on very saline gravel hills. These unusual plants have solitary bodies of leaf pairs that curve inward. They have velvety leaves which are sheathed in dormancy. The summer flowers are white to purple. These plants like lots of sun and clay soil. They do best with some water during their growing season but less after the flowers change colour then water sparingly over summer.
