Russian Imperial porcelain vase st petersburg, period of nicolas i circa 1840  Baluster form, the finely gilt scroll handles to neck flanking the relief molded Imperial eagle on either side, the body painted on one side to show a boyar at the entrance to a monastery conversing, as a beggar and attendant look on, the rim and lower body with a series of applied harpie motifs interspersed with raised gilt floral scrolls, the whole raised on circular foot, blue cypher mark to bottom.  H: 26 in.
