Superficially, the "Lorne" resembles the Canadian manufactured "Little Wanzer", however closer inspection reveals a number of differences. The machine was marketed in the UK by Wilkinson & Elliott circa 1870.
More rare - and less than 5 are only known with this style of tin box to be opened from the side - is the Bremer + Brückmann Liliput. 1884 it was advertised as "the best toy sewing machine of the new times". The model Liliput is also known with various names and stitchplates in different sizes.
