Untitled, published in PLAYBOY, Alberto Vargas, date unknown. From the time Esquire first introduced America to the Varga Girl in 1940, the name Vargas has been synonymous with pin-up and pin-up art. Alberto Vargas (1896 - 1982) was born in Peru, studied in Zurich and Geneva before leaving Europe, and arrived on Ellis Island, October 1916. May 1919, a rep. of the Ziegfeld Follies asked to show his work to Mr Ziegfeld. Vargas became the most famous and prolific pin-up artist of all time.
