Redbone Coonhound. They are members of the hound group. They are great raccoon hunters and small and large game hunters. They stand at 21-27 inches at the shoulder and weigh about 45-70 pounds.

Redbone Coonhound Information and Pictures, Redbone Coonhounds. We rescued one of these from a shelter. She pretty much ignores the cat although I think she would like a closer smell of her. She gets along with our older beagle as well. As long as they are eating out of separate bowls. ;-)

The breed is even-tempered and trainable in the home, and wants to please its owner. It is amenable to formal training. The Redbone's short, smooth coat requires only occasional brushing and bathing.

The Redbone Coonhound was bred in the 19th-century United States to hunt raccoons. It can be surprisingly affectionate with children and is suited to any climate, but not to urban living, where it will not get the needed exercise.
