Grumman F8F-1D (unofficial designation for export version for France and Thailand) This F8F-1D Bearcat BuNo 90446 was restored in 1983 (1999) badly damaged in a runway collision with a Corsair and rebuilt (2002 )damaged in a nose over on landing and repaired (2012) crashed right after takeoff and destroyed. Grumman XF8F-2 Bearcat (G-58) BuNo 95049 (introduced in 1948) at NATC, Patuxent River, Maryland July 18,1949. This version had an upgraded 2,250 hp engine, revised engine cowling and a larger tail and rudder. The four 20mm cannon were added to the F8F-2. A total of 293 were built.
