Rolling has a TON of benefits & may be your baby’s primary means of mobility around the 6 month mark! Hi! 👋🏻 I’m Amanda - mom and occupational therapist behind @purposeful.play.pediatrics with years of experience in infant and toddler development. 

Often I get asked how to help baby roll over (either direction). Here’s my number 1 tip: TOYS 🧸 

👉🏻Using a motivating toy, either high-contrasting colors (black and white), light up toys, or musical toys, will grab baby’s attention visually and help them roll over.

Many parents have shared with me their experiences during this phase, where their baby can roll back-to-belly but still isn’t able to roll belly-to-back. As a result, their baby may end up on their belly during sleep and become upset when unable to roll back. In such situations, practicing this skill can be beneficial.  When practicing belly-to-back rolling with a baby, I follow the steps demonstrated in this video. I position a toy to encourage the baby to remain on their belly and initiate a gentle “wrestling match,” gradually guiding the baby onto their back.
