Amy Barclay on Instagram: "A common question I get asked is what trees do I have in my garden. They are silver birch trees or ‘Betula Pendula. I have 4 single stems and 2 multi stems at either end so 6 in total. The single stems were planted in 2020 and the multi birches were added in 2021 and they have thrived so much. I planted them as I wanted privacy but I didn’t want anything too thick and dense that would create too much shade. Birches are perfect as they have floaty branches with delicate light green leaves that filter light through. I also love the contrasting white bark. The only negative is they are deciduous so loose their leaves in winter. My garden is my little sanctuary and I love sitting out here in spring/ summer and even autumn. Betula pendula 'Silver Birch'

Silver Birch is easily Melbourne's favourite tree. They are easy to grow, and if properly looked after they will grow quickly for the first few years, with growth of up to 6ft per year. Silver Birch are very attractive in all seasons with soft green lacy foliage creating dappled shade in the summer.
