Preparing the materials

Panel background fabric: Normally white or a white-on-white fabric. I highly recommend that you prewash the 1 ½ yard of background material and then iron it smooth. Put it aside for now. As I mentioned earlier, I broke the elephant down into component parts and worked on it one component at a time (trunk, left ear, right ear, head, legs, etc).
