Much of the series takes place in a one-block radius in New York City. On the ground floor of the building is the Central Perk Coffee House where the friends like to hang out. Up the stairs, on the third floor of the building, you find Monica’s apartment and the boys’ apartment, which was occupied by Joey and Chandler. The two units are directly across the hall from each other.

Chandler and Joey's apartment is located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. In "The One With The Invitation", we find out that the address of this apartment is 545 Grove Street. (There is a Grove Street in West Village, Manhattan, New York City, but it is a short one, and doesn't have a number 545.) The apartment served as a regular set-piece, but in terms of the show's main action, it was not as central a setting as Monica's apartment or Central Perk. It acted not so much as a gathering…
