Music Lessons for the Young Child: RHYTHM LESSON 9 - Notation with rests

It is now time to add rests to our music. This is basically the same lesson as lesson 8 but it includes the quarter rests. The addition of the rest means there are a lot more options for grouping the notes in sets of 4. Just a reminder that the rest gets one beat just as the quarter note does. I always told my…

Music a la Abbott - Amy Abbott - Kodály Inspired Blog and Teachers Music Education Resource: A Collection of Ta & Ti-Ti Songs, PDF's and Wor...

So, I've created my first concept specific packet for Teachers Pay Teachers. This is something that I have been debating to do. I want to make products that are accessible and usable for teachers, regardless of their training, experience or background. But I'll be honest that my products are created with the Kodály metholodogy and sequence in mind. That being said, I also don't want to undermine or sell products that you really need to create on your own when taking a Kodály level. I know…

Elementary Music Methods: Real Life Edition: Pizza Love... I have a bunch of pizza fraction games that I use for teaching rhythms. This will be a great tie-in.

I have been struggling with 2nd grade recently. I have two 2nd grade classes who are just perfect little angels and I have two other 2nd grade classes who are little demons. It is really hard to plan for them because I can never anticipate what the evil classes are going to do! I was searching through the Music K-8 CD's and I found Pizza Love. I remember singing this song in elementary music and when I listened to it, I remembered all the words. So I decided to create a pizza lesson for 2nd…
