Roughly 2 years ago, I was introduced to a 3rd cousin, Dawn. We immediately found out we had a lot of the same interest, and what was different we were both interested in learning more. On our Route 66 trip last fall, we came back by her town in Colorado which strangely has the same name as my town here in Kentucky! Dawn knew I liked to sew and showed me a baby blanket she had weaved using the Swedish technique. We came up with the idea that I would take it home and sew on the binding. I…

What a time I had trying to figure out how to scan these photos that Faye gave me and then get them on the blog. I am terribly computer illiterate but I do try. Picture #1 is "Dazzling" (from the Diamonds booklet) and she's done the weaving in a few different greens with a medium yellow that makes it look, well, dazzling, doesn't it? Picture #2 is our all-time favorite "Marquise" from the same Diamonds booklet. It was done in various shades of pinks and rose. These pictures are not good…

Little history before going “in medias res”: While Saoriweaving was my favourite technique to weave on a rigged heddle loom in the beginning of my “weaving career”, the reason I start learning to…

Just when you think you’ve tried everything in weaving, you come across something different, like Clasped Weft. Clasped weft can be a great “next step” for newer weavers with a few plain weave projects completed and who are ready for something a bit more adventurous. The cool thing about weaving clasped weft is that, similar...Read More

This is a rather unusual afghan, mainly because it's smaller but also because Candy ran the pattern from one side to the other of the fabric instead of up and down. Most of our afghans start out as a 2 1/2 yard piece of fabric but I think Candy's is maybe 1 1/2 yards (I'll change this later if I find out I'm mistaken). Her granddaughter worked on it but Candy is finishing it. The fabric is ecru and she's used variegated yarn in pinks, purples, blues, and greens. It's almost finished and she…
