The Great Pyramid at Sunrise

As viewed from the southern desert. The story how I got there.... woke up bright and early to get that "sunrise" shot. Got a car from the hotel to take me to Giza. Turns out nothing opens until 9. Sunrise is at 5:30. Luckily one of the local camel vendors was up early too. His lucky day. Hitched a ride around the perimeter fence and out into the desert up some of the dunes. About a 45 minute "ride" from the main Giza gates. Glad I did it because it made for a spectacular view.

But when it was first built, there was a smooth layer of fine white limestone on the outside of the structure, all cut to the same angle and polished to a shine so bright it almost glowed. Because I once made the mistake of dabbling in Egyptology, some ‘friend’ will schwack me every other week with a meme, cartoon or article about people who still believe the pyramids were built by aliens. I have longed for a handy single volume to present to these loons, full of unarguable evidence putting this business
