Yamashita Tomoyuki, also called Yamashita Hōbun, byname Tiger Of Malaya, (born Nov. 8, 1885, Kōchi, Japan—died Feb. 23, 1946, Manila, Phil.), Japanese general known for his successful attacks on Malaya and Singapore during World War II.
