Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo)

The ocellated turkey is a species of turkey residing primarily in the Yucatán Peninsula. A relative of the wild turkey, it was sometimes previously treated in a genus of its own, but the differences between the two turkeys are currently considered too small to justify generic segregation.

Midget White Turkeys are certainly underrated as a perfect turkey for a smaller homestead. Still boasting a fair amount of meat they are worth looking into.

I was a bit surprised to find a flock of turkeys up at 8,000 ft, but they seemed happy!

A large male turkey showing off his best features to a small band of females. A group of turkeys has been roaming around the neighbourhood for several months.
