Austria’s cuisine is rich with heritage from Monarchy times. Flavors from so many regions contributed to what is now known as Viennese cuisine. 

For some dishes the name pays tribute to its origin. These Powidltascherl are marked in my old recipe as “from Brno”, a city in the Eastern part of the Czech Republic 2 hrs north of Vienna. Mostly these Powidltascherl are referred to as “Bohemian” though - which historically would be the western part of today’s Czech Republic. Maybe someone here can shed more light on this. 

I cooked Powidltascherl as part of my final cooking exam in school - fun memories! And now I’m making them for my kids. They love them.
