For the first UK museum exhibition by the renowned American artist KAWS, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is showing over 20 works inside the Longside Gallery and outside in the grounds of the park itself.

Sophie Ryder has been sculpting hares (not rabbits!) throughout her career, but the Lady-Hare, a stylised hare's head on a human body apparently modelled on Ryder's own, developed in 1996. It represents a feminine counterpart of the Classical Minotaur, itself emphasised as a symbol of masculinity by Picasso. The association of the hare with fertility and femininity is well-established in Celtic mythology, but even purely as a visual device, the hybrid form just works – even the ears vaguely…
