Rare, very fine inlayed cabinet Height: 165.5 cm.  Width: 111.5 cm.  Depth: 50 cm.  England, ca. 1720.   Softwood and oak structure, with walnut and fruitwood marquetry, partially stained green and red as well as woods with pyrography shadowing. Brass strips and brass lock. With key. Restored, damaged and exterior of the veneer slightly cracked, with small repairs. The upper section with an envelope top opening to reveal a leather inset writing surface, above small circular and square wells for porcelain or glass receivers. The back with a recessed sliding mirror within a moulded cushion frame above a door in the frieze and a drawer below. Supported on circular tapering legs, the knees with tongue overlay, separated by a concave stretcher with indented circular dish, possible for a porcelain bowl.
