Lots of folks get frustrated at this part of the throwing process- volcano anyone? 🗻 A volcano craters happen when potters move their hands up the cone too quickly and don’t give the clay enough time to respond to what you’re asking it to do. *Top tips: Make sure your wheel is going full speed and your clay is always glossy with water and don’t forget to brace your foundation elbow!*

I use to get into such a pickle when I first started hand pulling handles. I'd mess up my freshly trimmed mugs and my handles would end up looking way too chunky. My mugs never felt very balanced. It has taken me a good few years of practice to be able to enjoy pulling handles but it was worth it. I have shared a couple of really great little tricks in this video, I'm sure you will find them useful.
