Because the 1908 Model uniforms proved ineffective in battle the German Feldgrau was introduced. Distinctions between regiments, German/Hungarian and enlisted/officers were almost completely abolished. The regulation uniform had a stand and fall collar but some officers privately purchased the old high collar. The common headgear was the Feldmütze in field.
