Lathyrus odoratus in the garden. The darker streaks are the typical color of these flowers. I think that they are flaking like this due to the consistent temps. above 90 deg. F.

Sweet Pea
Continuing the quest to get photos of sweet peas to look at during the long, grey winter ahead.... Alas, the writing on my plant labels has been bleached away by sun. So, I'm not sure of this sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) cultivar. A likely possibility is 'Blue Velvet', a Spencer variety. These are quite dark purple/blue and I've found it challenging to light them well without fading out their color. Late evening sun is from the left while the same light is reflected back on the right.
