Ceilings are so often over looked in a scheme but the simple (maybe over used?) use of lightbulbs and their cabling to create a ceiling feature works really well. This particular example works well due to the use of the white ceiling and the layering of the black cables over the neutral background. The very round nature of the bulbs also softens the end of the cables and provides a good finish that would be missing with other bulbs (with the possible exception of a Plumen Bulb.)

Hillside gardening - Think Mediterranean. Many plants of Mediterranean origin make perfect candidates for growing on sunny, dry, rocky slopes. Rosemary (Rosemary officinalis, zones 8 to 10), lavender (Lavendula spp, zones 5 to 9) and sage (salvia spp and cvs, zones 5 to 9) are all good choices.
