Just Enough, Is Plenty.
"I like my old-timey ways," says "Granny" Odlund, mistress of Odlunds Island at the mouth of the Suwannee River. With her husband, Alec, she settled on the tiny, marsh-flecked islet in 1910, carved out a living, and raised a family. Now a widow, Granny gardens a little and cooks for the itinerant fishermen who come her way. Facing her future with uncommon sense and plain-spoken pride, she says, "I'm nothin' but a back-woods cracker. I may got patched clothes on, but I own 'em."
