This is, I believe, a Lipizzaner floating above the ground. The Lipizzaner stallions were originally trained to carry knights in full armor, and most importantly to protect them. These amazing horses did so by leaping straight up into the air and then kicking both forwards and backwards simultaneously. The horse would also use his intimidating body as a shield, rearing up and jumping towards the enemy. The Viennese School of Riding still trains Lipizzaners their 'airs above the ground.'
