Clothing in the Viking Age
During the Viking age, the fabric would have been woven to the correct dimensions for the intended purpose, rather than cut from larger piece of cloth, as was done for the replica shown to the right. As a result, a leg wrap from the Viking age would have selvages along each edge which resisted fraying, rather than a stitch used on the modern replica.
