Saint Cecilia (1620-5). Pietro da Cortona (Italian, 1596-1669). Oil on canvas. National Gallery, London. Saint Cecilia was an early Christian Martyr and holds the palm of martyrdom. She is the patron saint of music, and the portable organ seen on the left is her attribute. The angel on the right holds a harp. This painting was once attributed to Domenichino and has more recently been described as a work of the Roman School. It is, however, an original work by Cortona.
Black History Month collaborative portrait poster art lesson. Students work in groups of 3 as a team to create designs for Black History Month at Collins Middle School in Corsicana Texas. Each Black History Month design is made up of 16 small squares to create this art. Martin Luther King Jr. Artwork. This is also a great Art Project for MLK Day.
In this project, students are asked to take a famous piece of art and increases its size by a scale factor of at least three. The extra challenge is that each piece of art is divided into 2-4 pieces and each student only gets a portion of the original. The more accurate their measurements, the better it will match up with the pieces their teammates are creating.
