Swimming in the open sea, can be a bit of a hazard if you have a worm attached :o))) WHAT IS A LINOCUT?: linocuts assembled creates a fresh contemporary feel to this handprinted linocut, I have cut out the fish shape and the swimmer, and ink all the parts up separately and them lay them out on my press and put the paper on top to print them all together using a bright turquoise and several dark blues. If you would like to see how a lino is made and printed, go to and search…

What I've been printing lately: January 2015 edition - Jen Hewett

Today we are looking at Japanese fabrics. Most of you will be familiar with Kokka who have become very well known over the years for their cute zakka style fabrics. But they also have sophisticated designs like these by fabrica uka - a designer from Tokyo who created silkscreen printed linens. Called 'Tayutou' their creator had wanted to collaborate with Kokka from the very beginning so it was a dream come true to be able to work with them. You can find these fabrics now in online stores…

Edward Bawden's Greenhouse

Edward Bawden, My vegetable love (aka The Greenhouse), 1932, Manchester Art Gallery (artist estate) Cucumber plants fill a greenhouse, pressing so close together there is barely room to squeeze between them. Darkly veined, variegated and disorderly, they seem more alive than they ought to be, an impression enhanced by the contrast between the twisting plants and the pale, angular timbers of the greenhouse roof.
