I used a simple landscape to teach my students how to try an impressionist painting. I only allowed them the basic colors in tempera and black and white. They were required to create secondaries, tints and shades by placing dots of paint on top or next to each other. We used a new pencil with eraser to makes the dots and smear the paint slightly.
