One of my favorite things to do when I was little was pull out my parents’ National Geographic atlas and pore over it while lying on the floor of the living room. Maps contain so much possibility: looking at one, seeing the outlines of unfamiliar coastlines and learning the names of strange rivers, is almost like being transported to another world. So it seems a shame to throw out old maps when they become obsolete — why not give them new life in your home instead?
