Great Blue Sapphire of Louis XIV. During the 17th cent, a Roman prince named Ruspoli sold it to a salesman, who sold it to King Louis XIV before 1691. The Ruspoli jewel escaped confiscation & theft during Revolution, probably saved by its peculiar form. In 1796, the revolutionary government allowed the Museum to choose a few gems for educational purposes. Today the Ruspoli Sapphire can be viewed in the Muséum National D’Histoire Naturelle

The carat flawless Ruspoli Sapphire aka The Grand Sapphire of Louis XIV of France. Today the sapphire resides in the Paris Museum of Natural History. The sapphire is probably originally from Ceylon (Sri Lanka).

The Logan Sapphire Flawless sapphire is the second largest known one in the world, a staggering carats. The cushion-cut stone is one of the world's largest and most famous sapphires, set in a brooch surrounded by 20 round-cut diamonds weighing 16 carats.

The Cullinan I, or Great Star of Africa, weighs 530.4 carats and is part of the British Crown Jewels.

Diamante "Hortense"  color rosa, di 20 carati, chiamato come Hortense de Beauharnais, figliastra di Napoleone, scomparso durante la Rivoluzione, riapparve e N. lo fece montare sull'elsa della spada. L'ultima donna ad indossarlo fu la regina Eugenia de Montijo, moglie di Napoleone III;  molti gioielli della corona furono venduti, ma non questo e il Régent che vennero conservati e esposti al Louvre. Quasi un secolo dopo si unì  un altro famoso diamante, il Sancy.

hortensia diamond 20 Carats, a peach coloured stone, named after the Queen of Holland, the step-daughter of Napoleon Bonaparte. This gem is part of the French Crown Jewels and is seen at the Louvre in Paris.
