Anna Ptáčková-Dejlová, medical instructor, 3rd Company of the 1st Czechoslovak independent battalion, was a front-line nurse who assisted heroically both Czech and Soviet wounded at the risk of her own life. In one occasion, she single-handedly rescued the crew of a burning Russian tank thus winning decorations from both her country's armed forces and the Red Army.
