Wilderness Road State Park is a state park located in southwestern Virginia, near Cumberland Gap and Ewing, Virginia. Within it stand the Karlan Mansion and a replica of the original Martin's Station fort. In 1769, Joseph Martin, later a brigadier general in the Virginia militia during the Revolutionary War, led a wilderness expedition. On land near present-day Rose Hill, he erected a stockaded fort and some cabins named Martin's Station. It was a well-known stop for the early settlers.
