The Thames foreshore provides a variety of evidence for past maritime connections, and the lives of people who lived and worked on the Thames. The photo above shows lighters tied up at the small wharves of Limehouse taken in
Woolwich Old Ferry approach in south east London, this site has now been built over and is a leisure centre. The foot tunnel building it still here and in use today.
The Prospect of Whitby, London. An exterior view from the River Thames. The public house was originally built in 1520 and known as the Devil's Tavern through its association with thieves and smugglers. Its name was changed to the Prospect of Whitby in
