Vic Preston;John Lyall, Safari Rally 1985 Lancia was desperate to win the Safari and sent a team of 037 to Kenya in 1984, 1985 and 1986. Vic Preston even kept one of these Specials in Kenya permanently and drove it on national events to develope the car further, but they had little luck. Markku Alen was fourth in 1984 and third in 1986, but the big win on the Safari had to wait for the Integrale. Also Vic Preston had to retire this car on the 1985 event with broken suspension.
