I dig this. LED light strip would work. Might have to cut a channel under the lip of each step so the lights aren't visible when walking from bottom to top.

These minimal stairs are so clean. Love how the shelf is incorporated into the steps. Unfortunately, USA building codes would not allow them. We Americans are too stupid, we would fall off and then sue someone for our own stupidity.
