Still have more photos from my BWC day in April, so here are some owls. These shots are quite often taken on BWC photographic days, so not very original. But still impossible to resist, given the bluebells were in flower on my visit.
Pygmy`s Owls nestlings (Glaucidium passerinum). 22.5.2007, Tornio. This year pygmy owls seem to nest quite early. Here 8 full-grown nestlings under mother`s guiding wings and warming belly. Shady light, but nestlings at that age are blueish also in reality. About nestbox: It is made from wood, thick front wall (about 5 cm) with a hole 46 mm. About 0.5 meter high box. Front wall has to be thick cos it`s the same also in natural nest-holes, maybe because of squirrels etc... -----
