That famous "gorilla in the headlights" look. Seeing her in person, I knew from the body language she was totally calm. But, once I looked at the image, she looked "angry". She was totally relaxed when I left her. The lesson? Don't always assume you know what's going on in another's head - just from the expression. Rwanda's mountain gorillas in Volcanos National Park.
Rwanda Silverback Mountain Gorilla. I show this to give you a size comparison with one of the "almost" adult members of his family. But see some other details, as well. To the left of the silverback is the stalk of a thistle plant. The silverback reached down and stripped the thistle of it's sharp leaves in a second or two. The stalk provides both nutrients and liquid. Gorillas almost never need to drink water - they find enough in their food.
